I’m a keen amateur astronomer with a particular interest in sharing the wonders of the night sky with a wider audience. So as well as using my telescopes for my own observing, I organise and help out with a range of star parties and other public astronomy events. I also regularly give talks on astronomy and related topics to local and community groups.
I’m a member of the Bristol Astronomical Society and play an active role in the running of the Society’s observatory just outside Bristol. I’m also a member of the British Astronomical Association, the Society for Popular Astronomy and the Institute of Physics. In 2016, I was honoured to be elected a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
I’ve recently developed an interest in sidewalk astronomy, which involves – in the words of the late, great John Dobson – ‘taking astronomy to where the people are.’ So keep an eye out here for more details coming soon.
