Astronomy

I’m a keen astronomer, with a particular interest in practical observing. I’m especially fond of looking for faint ‘deep sky objects’, such as distance galaxies and nebulae. But I can get as excited as the next nerd at a good view of one of the solar system planets or a meteor shower.

I also really like sharing my enthusiasm for the night sky – and, indeed, the daytime sky, too – with other people. This is why I enjoy writing about astronomy, helping people to try out astronomy and generally just talking about astronomy. (When I get tired of talking about my dogs, anyway.)

I’m a member of the British Astronomical Association and the Society for Popular Astronomy. And a few years ago I was honoured to be elected a fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. I’m found most commonly, though, out in the garden with one of my telescopes, staring up at the sky.
