Welcome to my blog. My name is Simon and I live near Bristol in the United Kingdom. And I am going to write here about my quest to become a better human being.
Now, I’m not saying that I habitually go around punching old ladies, putting cats into dustbins or anything like that. Far from it. I left school with good grades, then went to university and left there with good grades, too. I joined an international business consultancy and have spent the last ten years working my way up through the ranks. All perfect.
But it’s not. As I look at the world around me, and how we all seem to be rushing desperately to achieve more and more, while consuming all the resources that our world has to offer, I see so many people who seem so unhappy, so disconnected from their own lives. I just feel that I need to do something about it.
Before I can start trying to put the world to rights, though, I need to sort out my own life. If I’m going to try to convince people that we can live happy, successful, sustainable, fulfilling lives, then I need to demonstrate by my own actions that it can, in fact, be done. I need to show that we can do well, be nice and have a life… all at the same time.
So here we are. On the threshold of the next phase of my life. Time to take the first step…
